Rockman-X's encodes forum

Well, I've been working on this for a while, but decided not to announce it until I had finished the final touches and QC. This time I've decided to take on a Shaft project that doesn't require as much typesetting as all of their other shows. The project is Tsukuyomi Moon Phase. As with my other projects it uses the DVD rips from another group, this time I used the Exiled-Destiny rips as they were the only ones available. The subs are a mix of the R1 subs from the DVDs and the Mahou translations, most if not all titles and the riddles at the end of the episodes are taken from the Mahou translations, while the majority of the episode content is from the R1 subs. I have styled and edited the subs greatly, removing bits and pieces and adding others, for example, all instances of "Big Brother" have been replaced with "Onii-sama", I have also used the Mahou translations for all the signs.

There are a couple of reasons I decided to do this project, one being that it's animated by Shaft, and Shaft=WIN. The other reason being that the first 11 episodes of E-D's release were vobsub, and as everyone knows Vobsub=Shit. The remaining episodes were styled .ass, but there was no type setting and countless mistakes.

As usual, my connection could not handle uploading this 9GB series, so it's up to you to download the torrent. Everything else has been handled by me, in this folder you will find the Fonts/subs/and chapter files if you want to mux them in, as well as a copy of MKV merge and instructions on how to mux everything, otherwise just follow the secondary instruction included in the text file to use the subs.

I tried the first episode and it looks good.. Though I noticed that the namings are in a Western order
(ie Kouhei Morioka)? But nice move, changing the big brother to onii-chan XD
And yeah, Shaft shows directed by Shinbou Akiyuki is win XD Kamiya Hiroshi too.

But sigh, out of each 340MB rip 75MB of it is taken for the English dub which I don't need -__-"
If only there's an R2 rip out there... E-D's don't look that bad, but I wish it were smaller.
2 b-frames, 5 ref frames? x264 core 50 svn-569M? This encode is ancient (well, the series is old =P)

If only a certain godlike encoder can make nice R2 rips of this.. *hint hint*

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of E-D encodes either, but they were the only rips I could find. It'd be great if we could see some Rockman encodes for this. And sorry bout the file size, if I was uploading the torrent myself I'd just mux the english track right out and put my subs in, which would indeed drop the size by 50-75MB, but it'd still take forever to upload it all on this connection. At least the subs will be timed to DVD in the event we ever do get some good rips, enjoy.

Godlike encoder??? Where?? I hope you are not talking about me, because as I always say...

You'd better not wait for it... Time is a very scarce thing for me lately, besides I've got a lot of stuff already on my project queue.

Ah, come to think of it I do remember reading that somewhere ^^;

Sigh, probably I'll just download the E-D slowly.. With the new fall anime series and fansubs increasing the size of their files lately (I don't remember seeing 350MB TV rips a year ago), my pitiful speed won't be able to handle it -__-"

But well Aria and Higurashi sounds enticing too, finish both and I'll send a Kenta-kun ningyou to your doorstep as a gift X3

Oh by the way, Cookie, are there many differences in the DVD version compared to Mahou's TV rip?
Like added scenes or uncensors and the like (that KimiAru sure is a lot different from the TV rip =3)?

Yes, as with most Shaft projects I've seen on DVD, there are alot of redrawn scenes in the DVD release. Some are removed censors like during bath scenes and such, and some are just areas where they thought the animation needed some work. here is an example that shows both cases, slight spoiler warning for those who have not seen the the anime, as it shows a character appearing later in the series.
